Track pumping
Update (Sep 21. 2015): Thanks for your feedback on this feature. It's clear this is our most requested feature and we're now working on it - a variation of Option 2 below but that allows for double sided pumping.
A popular request we get is for BabyTime to track pumping/expressing.
We’re in the process of designing a way to include this in the app, and there are many ways we could approach it, from very simple solution which records only the amount and date of pumping/expressing to one that manages a ‘stash’ of pumped milk.
In keeping with the general approach of BabyTime, we’re looking at a simple and easy solution, and we’d like your feedback on which of the following options you like best:
Option 1 - Total amount tracking
In this option you can select L or R (or L and R) and choose an amount with the slider (much like you do with the currently bottle feeding function).
It’s simple, and quick.

Option 2 - Time and amount tracking for each side
This option is a bit like the nursing/breastfeeding activity - you can tap a side to start timing, although timing is optional (like for bottle). You can tap the amount under each side to set an amount pumped for each side and it will show the total for both sides, or you can use the slider to choose a total amount (like how the bottle currently works).
This option is quite flexible, and caters for the following:
- you want to time your pumping as well as choose an amount
- you can set amounts (and time if you want) independently for each side
- if you just want to choose a total amount (rather than for each side) you can also do this
Mockup: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3kqq4s289skwfjo/pumping_option2.tiff
For both options we’ll include time since last pumping in the ‘at a glance’ status bar at the top of the screens.
So, which of these options works best for you? Do you need to time your pumping, and do you need to set the amount for each side?
Do you need any other features for pumping that aren’t included in the above options?
And finally, what sort of stats would you like to see for pumping?
We'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
BabyTime 2 is here and so is pumping! Upgrade now if you haven’t already:
https://itunes.apple.com/app/apple-store/id922808363?pt=95126802&ct=uv&mt=8
To turn on pumping once you’ve upgraded, go into settings and tap the check next to ‘Pumping’.

This sounds great. I think the like option 2 (I side I more data). So far I've been using your app to track pumping by setting up a second "baby". I generate 2 bottle feed records when I pump... One for each side and track the duration & amount that I pump. I also generate one breast feed record per day, just for the use of the extra (separately colored) note field to total up how many oz. pumped for the day and the number of times I pumped. This has worked well for me so far and I have the heads up display to remind me how long since I last pumped.

Second option would be great. When would this be added?

I would like option 2. I'm looking for the ability to track total time and volume per side. Any traction on this feature?

May I also suggest putting an alarm when however many hours are up, so us pumpers know when it's time to pump again.

I like the second option. I have to have a timer when I pump to know how long I am pumping for. Not really to use in the future just, just for an at that moment kind of thing. But I do want to make one suggestion you might have already covered it and I didn't see, but I think there should be an options for timing both sides at the same time. I am an exclusive pumper and I never punk just one side, so it would be difficult for me to have to time one side and then the other. But I do like the idea of being able to track how much I'm pumping out of each side. I would really really love for a pumping option. Right now I am using the breast feeding option and just writing how much I pump in the comments! So it works out for now :) I hope my comment was useful!

I like the second option. I downloaded another app that would do that but I use BabyTime for everything else. It would be great to have it all in one.

As an exclusive pumper I like option 2. Currently I use the bottle feeding setting to track my pump time and amount, so having an actual setting would be nice because I am also bottle feeding and trying to nurse.
